Frederick St Aubin (1838-1890)

The Basics
Frederick was born between April - June 1838 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.
No evidence of baptism found yet.
Frederick never married.
Frederick's occupation was a locksmith and commercial traveller.
Frederick died between October - December 1890 in Islington, Middlesex, England.
No evidence of burial found yet.

Children

Interesting
Frederick always listed his occupation as locksmith apart from on the 1871 census where he states he is a commercial traveller. Why the change? Frederick lived in Wolverhampton for the majority of his life but by the 1881 census had relocated to Islington. Again, why the change of location? Also he never married or had children.

William Henry St Aubin (1837-1889)

The Basics
William was born in 1837 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. However, I have found no evidence of this yet.
No evidence of baptism found yet.
William married Elizabeth Sarah Bamford (1838-????) between October - December 1859 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.
William's occupation was a lock manufacturer and pattern maker.
William died between April - June 1889 in Walsall, Staffordshire, England. He was 52 years old.
No evidence of burial found yet.

Children
Elizabeth (1860-????)
Henry Charles (1862-1866)
Alice Jane (1864-1866)
Frederick (1866)
Ellen (1868-????)
William Henry (1871-1952)

Interesting
William spent the majority of his life in Wolverhampton but spent the last few years of his life in Walsall. What was behind the move and also change of occupation from lock maker to pattern maker? Also on the 1881 census it lists Cath Carter - Aunt - who was she?

Charles David St Aubin (1812-1883)

The Basics
Charles was born on 29 November 1812 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. He was baptised on 6 July 1817 at St Peters in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. Listed people at the baptism were A.B. Haden. His parents were Charles St Aubin and Jane.
Charles married Elizabeth Perry on 14 February 1836 at St Peters in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. Listed people at the wedding were William Perry and John Biddulph.
Charles married Ann Baugh nee Willcox on 28 November 1865 at St Marks in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. Listed people at the wedding were William Day Willcox and Emma St Aubin along with John Richardson. Charles is noted as a lock manufacturer living in Waterloo Road.
Charles's occupation was a lock manufacturer.
Charles died between April - June 1883 in West Derby, Lancashire, England. He was 70 years old. No evidence of burial found yet.

Children

Interesting
Charles spent the majority of his life in Wolverhampton but spent the last few years of his life in West Derby. What inspired this move when it is clear from the 1871 census that he had a successful lock manufacturing business? All his children were born to Elizabeth, he had none with Ann. There is a 5 year gap between Charles's birth and baptism, why was that? Was Charles in fact born in Wolverhampton? On the 1871 census it states his niece Eliza Morris was at the property, so whose daughter is she?

Charles St Aubin (1847-1893)

The Basics
Charles was born between April-June 1847 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.
No evidence of baptism found yet.
Charles married Emily Jane Tripe (1844-1910) on 9 January 1870 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. It occurred at a methodist church (CR1/0053) and listed people at the wedding were Mary Shapley, Ezekiel Baker and John Bruster.
Charles's occupation was being a locksmith apart from in 1881 where on the census it lists his occupation as a clerk.
Charles died between April-June 1893 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.
No evidence of burial found yet.

Children
Alice Jane (1870-1875)
Emily Jane (1877-????)
William Alfred (1879-????)
Mary (1881-????)
Beatrice (1883-????)
Lily Ellen (1884)
John (1888-????)

Interesting
What I want to know is what happened between Charles and Emily between the 1871 and 1881 census. In 1881 Charles is found to be a lodger at a common lodgers place in Wolverhampton and by 1891 he is a pauper in the Wolverhampton Union Workhouse. To make the mystery deeper children are still being born to Emily up until 1888. Do these children belong to Charles? To make things worse, in 1891 Emily lists herself as a widow on the census but Charles is still alive at this point. No love lost there! What unfortunate events took place for Charles to end up a pauper? His other brothers (William Henry and Frederick) were also locksmiths but appeared to be successful.
